Storytelling Week 2: Creation from a Rabbit's View

My Story this week was about Adam and Eve and the creation of humans, so instead of writing letters home, I will be writing in a diary as the first rabbit ever.

Day 1:
This is a whole new world, literally. I was nothing yesterday and now I'm this creature with long ears and big feet. There is one guy here I know,  God. He created me and a bunch of other things like me, but were all a little different and some are a lot different. I think I'm going to like it here.

Day 2:
When I woke up this morning I saw God making miracles. He created this thing, we call him Adam and he is amazing. He speaks in this language I've never heard any of the other animals use, but I like it. Also today, Adam named us. All of us, it was crazy. He calls me Rabbit.
Even though all of us are Adams friends, he seems lonely. I think God knows and he's just waiting for him to go to sleep. Im going to stay up to see what miracles he's going to do.

Okay, its really late right now and Adam just fell asleep, and just like I said, God is doing something! This is weird but its beautiful, He's making another Adam. But it looks a little different, but defiantly still an Adam. I think I will talk to the new Adam tomorrow, but I'm tired so I'm going to bed.

Day 3:
Her name is Eve and she's a woman. She is very nice, but I think she messed up today. This is a long story so ill tell you from the beginning.
I was hopping up to her when suddenly this serpent slithering very quickly, Im not sure where I am on the food chain yet, so i just stopped and stayed still. He wasn't going for me though, he went right up to Eve. He started talking to her in the Adam language. She seemed confused, and he kept talking to her. I was hiding behind this tree. They call it the Tree of Good and Evil, it has some very delicious looking fruit on it. Suddenly the serpent leads Eve right to this tree and has her touch it. She looks scared, like she doesn't want to touch the tree for some reason. She closed her eyes and put her hand on the tree, but nothing happened. She looked very relieved. Then the serpent reaches up and takes a piece of fruit from the tree and gives it to Eve. She has it in her hand, but the serpent uses his tail to push the fruit to her mouth. She bites it, then she eats the whole thing. After she rushes to get Adam and she leads him to the tree and grabs another piece of fruit from the tree. He pushes her hand away, but she talks really loud like she's excited about something. Adam then eats the fruit, then looks scared. after a while they both look down at their bodies and seem even more scared, they run and hide.

I hear God's voice and I get very excited. Adam and Eve are no where to be found, but I follow God. He finds them and God looks upset. He talks to them and they look very sad. The serpent is punished just like Adam and Eve were. I wish I could hear what they were saying but everyone wasn't happy. Adam and Even went to bed and I think I am too. Hopefully things will be better tomorrow.

Authors Notes:
In the Book of Genesis in the Bible, the story went a lot like this but in a different perspective. Adam was made from dust by God and then God made Eve out of Adams ribs. Eve gets persuaded by a serpent (the devil) to eat the forbidden fruit. She does then convinces Adam to as well and they feel scared and ashamed and they hide from God.
In some of the other stories I read, Adam was as tall as the heavens, so when he ate the fruit he shrunk down to about six feet tall, so it was obvious when he was hiding from God. In another story there was another women named Lilith, who ran away from Adam, which I thought was very interesting. Most of the stories followed the story told in the Bible, but were a tad different.

Week 2 Reading Diary: Adam and Eve

The Creation:
In the beginning God created.... Everything! and it was very good. The creation of man and woman has begun and this is where the story starts getting juicy.
The Fall:
Like most innocent women, Eve was tricked by a snake. The fruit of the tree of good and evil was completely off limits, but Eve was talked into it by the devil himself. Adam, trying to be the good husband he is, listened to his wife and also ate the forbidden fruit. They were no longer innocent, which caused distress for the human race.
The Ideal Man:
Tall and wide as the eyes can see, can live a thousand years, and can make up names for every creature on the earth? Perfection!... I guess. Stated in the reading and common knowledge, there are no perfect men anymore.
The Fall of Satan:
At first I thought this was going to be a story about the time my ex tripped but not so much. Jealousy took over one of the angels in heaven because of the perfection of the first man. He tried to compare himself to Adam but soon realized he was no match and threw a hissy fit. God kicked him out of heaven along with his evil posse.
Lilith:
Lilith was no Eve, except the whole rebellious attitude. Eve ate fruit, but Lilith didn't mind the death of one hundred babies daily just so she didn't have to live with Adam.
Eve:
Women were doomed from the beginning. Even though God tried to work around all the flaws that could go wrong, it happened any way. Eve being the first women was as great as she could be and to Adam she was perfect. They were married, now a days some might say a little too quickly, but they were in love!

Paradise:
In this story accepting the Lord into your heart was not the way to Heaven, but your soul has to pass through seven portals to see if it is worthy to join the angels.
The Fall of Man:
Like in the bible the fall of man was because of the meal of the forbidden fruit, but in this story the serpent was just about equal to man. They were almost equal in physical ability, so the serpent wanted to get rid of human so he could be superior over all God's creatures.
The Punishment:
For Adam and Eve the punishment for them was for all mankind. Adam shrank down in size, they knew they were naked, and they could feel pain. The sneaky snake was punished as well. God took away his arms and legs, made him crawl on his belly and he could only eat dust. Im sure there were many regrets going on at this point. The earth and the moon were punished along with man and the serpent.

Learning Challenges

After watching those two videos it makes me realize how much time I waste, but is it really wasting time if I'm making memories with my friends? There are many jelly beans I've spent at home doing nothing with the people I love. I wouldn't count those days as productive but then again I wouldn't regret most of them.
I am a huge procrastinator (which you've already figured that out, I'm sorry). The advertisements of half finished projects is mostly how my life goes. I love knitting and crocheting, and I've been doing it since I was about 8 years old. In those 13 years I have started over one hundred scarves, hats, blankets and more and I have finished three.

One thing that I really need to work on more is time management. I feel like if I start planning things out then everything will fall together better and instead of having a little bit of free time a day I will have a lot of jelly beans to spare for fun things!

Storybook Favorites

After browsing through the storybooks I found many that I liked and I wish I had the time to read more, but the 3 that were my favorites were Queen of the Underworld, Untold Tales of the Sea, and Mean Girls Morals.
Queen of the Underworld caught my eye as I was looking because being a queen is always a fantasy, but not when you're ruling the Underworld. After clicking on the link, the first thing that appears is a picture of a beautiful girl who is reaching up (assuming from the underworld) to get out or for help. I figured that this girl had some stories to tell. It is written in first person which I enjoyed very much, because it puts me in her shoes. The introduction was set up very nicely because it tells the story of how she became queen. It ends with her saying that she now lives with ghosts, but there are few who stop by. This sets up all the beautifully written stories in the remainder of her storybook.

The next storybook that really caught my eye was Untold Tales of the Sea. One of my favorite things is sea creatures and water. When I clicked on the link I saw pictures of mermaids and I knew this was going to be one my favorites already. Although I personally do not believe in mermaids, I do wonder about all the ocean life we have not yet discovered. This introduction starts with saying exactly that. it goes into saying that the author of the storybook, Kalen, took a journey across the sea and met four interesting people, including mermaids (my favorite), so I knew I had to read them. These stories were good, but the theme makes me want to write my storybook over something sea related.

Like most college girls who grew up at the same time as me Mean Girls is considered one my favorites and a classic. The title of the third storybook Mean Girls Morals really caught my interest because I thought to myself "What morals do they have?" The introduction is the main character of the movie, Cady Heron, taking about how she wrote a book. Her book includes Aesop fables and lessons she learned from hanging out with The Plastics. This storybook is great at incorporating a relatable movie to mythology stories.

Overview: Adam and Eve

For my Week 2 readings I think I am going to read the story of Adam and Eve. I am a Christian so I know the basis of the story very well. I was very interested by the fact the description said the reading filled in gaps and expanded the story. Christianity for me is living by the Bible and any story that expands the Bible catches my interest. This is also one of the first stories told in the bible about how the world came to be and how humans are here on earth. To me everything relates back to this story, so I am excited to hear and learn how it is told in different ways.
This photo was very interesting to me because there are 6 creatures in it. As most of know the story of Adam and Eve in the Bible has 2 people, a snake (the devil), and of course God. This picture appears to have two creatures who are portraying the devil.

Introduction

I am Cassandra Neubauer studying Advertising at the University of Oklahoma. I am now in my 3rd year and loving every minute of it. I have dreamed of coming to this university ever since my older sister became a gymnast for OU. Although I am now an Ad major it wasn't my first choice. As a freshman I explored the world of Interior Design and hated it. After dropping that major I soon came to realize that I had no idea what I wanted to do with he rest of my life (like many 19 year olds), so I had the awful pressure of finding a new major. I took the aptitude test at OU and my number one major was Advertising, but I thought the test was crazy so I decided to do a photography major. My parents quickly made me switch into something that they thought would be best for me like Advertising. I kept photography as my minor, but I was mostly taking Ad classes. As the semesters progressed I started to like these classes, which I thought would never happen. After taking Advertising Copy and Layout last semester I knew that this was what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.
On my Christmas family vacation to Michigan to see my extended family I found out that Advertising runs in the family. My grandfather worked for an ad agency through out most his life. I also have an uncle and two cousins who are in the Ad field.
After talking to my family for a while they all started talking about internships (which scared me a lot , but I have to grow up). I am now striving to get an internship with a distant relative in California this summer and I could not be more excited.

I am a huge animal lover and a huge Thunder fan and I combined these two loves and I now name my cats after NBA players. I have Thabo (like Thabo Sefolosha, previous thunder player), Collison (like Nick Collison), and Griffin (like Blake Griffin). I had a dog Ally, but she passed away while I was in college and my parents don't want to get a new dog now that all the kids are out of the house.

Week 1 Storytelling : Old Cole King

OLD King Cole
Was a merry old soul,
And a merry old soul was he;
He called for his pipe,
And he called for his bowl,
[32]And he called for his fiddlers three.

~~~
In the far away land of Sprucelle lived a very happy king named Cole. He ruled for many many years with the belief that music was the way to happiness. Although he did not have many servants, he always had the Sprucelle's best fiddlers with him through out his day. These fiddlers were three brothers that have lived in the town all their lives and adored the king, and the king adored them and their fiddling.
The king had a daily routine he stuck with most days and that was what he liked and kept him merry. Old King Cole would wake up every morning and call for his pipe and a bowl to start his day. After this he would enjoy a grand breakfast with all this castle workmen and would request the three fiddler brothers to play the unusual, up beat tune that the king listened to every morning. The king would tell the fiddlers that the song would wake him up and put him in a good mood to start the day.
Every fiddler, he had a fiddle,
And a very fine fiddle had he;
Twee tweedle dee, tweedle dee, went the fiddlers.
Oh, there's none so rare,
As can compare
With King Cole and his fiddlers three!
~~~

This song was so rare and unique that Old King Cole believed all the people in the town of Sprucelle should hear the wonderful sounds. So one day when the king was nearing his death he decided to have a celebration where the three fiddler brothers would put on a show for the towns people and the king. As a gift the jolly king had given the fiddlers beautiful hand crafted fiddles made of the finest wood in the land. After every fine fiddler received the fiddles they played the beautiful song, "twee tweedle dee, tweedle dee." The towns people cheered and the king was so happy. On that day Old King Cole declared the song the new anthem of Sprucelle.

Author's Notes: There are many theories about who King Cole is and if he was a real historical figure or possibly just a character in a children's nursery rhyme. There was a Welsh King Coel Hen, but the original story was written in England in 1708. At this time tobacco was a big part of the culture,w which explains why a nursery rhyme mentions the pipe and bowl. In other versions of this poem it explains the celebration they are talking about is "the lady's birthday." This explains the musicians and songs that were played.
In this story I made King Cole a nice king, who appreciated his workers, because I wanted him to be a likable character and he is described in the nursery as "merry." I also like to think of the song as so rare that the King wanted to share it with all of his kingdom. Before such a big performance I thought that the fiddlers deserved gifts of new fiddles to show the kings appreciation.

My Favorite Place to Be

Neubauer Family Photo 2016

My favorite place to be is right where I am in that photo, surrounded by family. (I am the one in the front middle with brown hair.) I am the youngest of four, with only 5 years in between me and my oldest sister, so we were very close. Although I am away at college I still make time to go see them every once in a while especially since the two loves in my lives are my adorable niece and nephew. I could be in any location and as long as I have them it will be my favorite place.

If I could choose to be anywhere it would be in the bathtub, with wine, listening to music. I know this isn't a specific town or location, but it is my favorite place. I have always loved being in water, and I am almost always listening to music... and we won't talk about how much wine I drink, but it is one of my favorites. I don't have that wine cup holder in the picture yet, but it looks like a great investment.
