Reading Diary: Week 14: Grimm Librivox

The Queen Bee
Two brothers went out into the world and could not make it, so their other brother, who was a dwarf went searching for him. The dwarf brother told the boys to not harm living things like ants, ducks and bees. They came across a castle that a king had tests to see who could find all the pearls and if they couldn't before sun down they were turned into stone. The two older brothers couldn't do it and were turned into stone, but the dwarf did it with help from the ants, ducks and bees. The dwarf married the youngest sister and became king.
The Twelve Huntsman 
The king was dying and asked his only son to marry some girl who he didn't like and he was already married. His first wife got eleven girls to dress up like huntsman and prove they were men. The wife at the end revealed herself and the king couldn't continue to be married to his new wife.
Jorinda and Jorindel 
There was a fairy who lived in a castle and any man who stepped on her property's frozen solid in his steps and the fairy had to release him after he promised to never come back, but each maiden was turned into a bird and kept in a cage in her castle, Jorinda and Jorindel were walking and got caught in the fairy's land and were put under the spell. When Jorindal was freed he found a purple flower that set everyone free of their enchantment.
The Fox and The Horse 
There was a horse who had gotten too old and was no longer helpful to the farmer, so he sent him away and told him not to come back until he was as strong as a lion. The horse went away and found a fox that said he would help him. The fox told a lion there was a dead horse to eat and one thing led to another and the horse dragged the lion all the way back to his masters house. The horse lived there until he died. 
The Twelve Dances Princesses 
The King twelve daughters left every night to go dancing, but the king didn't know where. The king said whoever finds out where they go can marry a princess and be the next heir. Many tried and failed but a soldier had an invisible cloak and had help from an old lady and found out what the did. They travelled to a lake where twelve princes in boats took them to an underground castle and they danced all night until their shoes were worn. The soldier told the king and the king let him marry his oldest daughter. 
The Turnip
There were two soldiers and one decided he wanted to be a gardener. The one gardener grew the most marvelous turnip. He gave it to the king who in return heave him many riches. The brother was very jealous and knew if he gave gold and jewels to the king he would receive the turnip so he did. After this he decided to kill his brother, so he put him in a sack and tied him to a tree. 
The Willow Wren and the Bear 
The bear and wold were walking through the forest and saw the most beautiful bird and the bear wanted to see the real palace of the willow wrens. The bear finally saw the palace and it was just a nest and he insulted the babies. The willow wren proclaimed that there would be a war. The bear gathered all the land creatures and the wren gathered all the air creatures. The Wren won the battle.

Reading Diary: Week 14: Grimm Librivox

The Frog Prince
There was a princess who loved to play with her golden ball and she was playing with it by a spring. She accidentally dropped it in the water and she started crying. A frog appeared and said he would get it for her if he brought him home and let him eat and sleep with her. She agreed, but didn't have any intention in following through with it, but he showed up at her window each night. The third night he stayed over he transformed into a man.
Rupunzel 
A man and his wife lived next to an entranress who had the most delicious looking plants in her garden and the women had to try them..  The entrantress agreed if they gave her the first child born and they agreed and repunzel was locking in a tower. When the enchantress wanted to see the child she told her to let down her hair. The kings son heard her singing and ha to meet her. He did and visited her often. The enchantress found out nd cut Repunzells hair and she was pregnant with 2 children. The prince went up to get Repunzel and the enchantress blinded him. He then wandered around blind and then heard Repunzels singing and she cried into his eyes and he was healed.

The Straw, The Coal and The Bean 
Out of three groups one coal, one straw and one bean escaped from the rest. They were running away but he straw caught on fire and broke, and the coal fell into water. The bean thought this was funny and laughed until he bursted. A tailor that was walking by seed him back together and thats why beans have a black seem.
The Traveling Musician
A donkey who was too old and about to be put down by his owner decided to run away and become a musician. On the way he met a dog, a cat and a rooster who all joined him. They were trying to find a place to stay and they found a house that had a lot of room and a lot of food, but there were robbers in it. They scare the robbers away and took their house.
Clever Elsie
A girl with the name elsie was known to be very clever and a man Hans was willing to marry her if she were to really be as smart as everyone said. He came to dinner and they told Elsie to go get beer. She notices a pic ax that could fall and kill their future son and then Hans knew she was clever... I guess. He married her and they moved away.
Briar Rose
There was a queen who wished for a little girl and got her. She was blessed with many gifts, like being very beautiful and obedient. She accidentally fell into a deep sleep after pricking her finger on a spindle. This is the story of Sleeping beauty.

Reading Diary: Week 13: Crane Continued

The Six Swans 
A king was hunting and got lost in the woods. An old women told him she would help him if he married her daughter. The king had 7 kids from a previous marriage and he was worried the new step mother would treat them nicely. He his them away in a castle, but the new wife found them. She turned the 6 boys into swans, but the one girl remained human and she set out to look for her brothers. She found them and they said that the only way to free them was to sew asher shirts and her life wouldn't be spared. She decided to do it and set out into the woods, where the kings huntsmen found her and brought her to the king. She didn't speak, but the king married her. The kings mother committed a crime and blamed the girl. She was sentence to death, but her swan brothers came to save her.
King Thrushbeard
There was a king who had a daughter who didn't want to marry anyone and ridiculed anyone who tried. She told one boy his chin looked like a thrush's chin and then thy all called him King Thrushbeard. She was then married off to a peasant. They passed a bunch of nice things and the girl asked who they belonged to. Her new husband said King Thrushbeard.
The Three Spinsters
There was a lazy girl who wouldn't spin and so her mother beat her and the queen heard. The queen asked why she was beating her daughter and she said that her daughter wouldn't stop spinning. The queen said she liked the sound of spinning and took her with her. The queen said she could marry her oldest son. The girl then found three spinsters to do her work for her in exchange for invitations to the wedding.
Snow White
The queen wanted a daughter as white as snow, lips red as blood and hair dark as the black frame. The queen had such a daughter, but then died. The king took a new wife, who wanted to be the fairest of them all. Snow White became more beautiful than the new queen, so she hired a huntsman to take her out to the woods and kill her. He didn't have the heart to do it so he set her free, thinking wild animals would get her. She then found a house with food and beds so she went inside.

Reading Diary: Week 13: Crane

The Fisherman and his Wife
There was a fisherman and his wive who lived in a hovel and the fisherman went out and fished everyday. This certain day he caught a fish, and the fish spoke to him. He said he was an enchanted prince and asked him not to eat him. The fisherman let him go. When he told his wife he said he should've mad a wish, a wish they lived in a cottage. The fisherman went back and wished for a cottage and got it. After a while his wife wasn't pleased and wanted something bigger.
Aschenputtel 
There was a family with one daughter, but the mother was sick and she passed away, but told her daughter that she would always be with her. Her father got remarrried to a women who had two horrible daughters who would always boss Aschenputtel around. Aschenputtel plated a tree by her mothers grave. There was a big ball and the prince invited all the young ladies in hopes he would find a wife. Aschenputtels step mother did not let her go. She cried under this tree and the tree shook and gave her a beautiful gown and she attended the ball. The prince fell in love with her and asked to see where she lives, but she escaped him before he could see. She did the same thing the next day. on the third day she was dressed in a beautiful gown and golden slippers. She accidentally left a golden slipper and he went to all the girls in the town to try on the shoe. The sisters cut their feet to fir the shoe, but the prince knew they cut themselves. Aschenputtel tried on the shoe and it fit her perfectly. The prince took her away and married her.
The Robber Bridegroom 
There was a young girl who was forced to marry a boy she didn't love. He asked her to go to his house and she did. When she got there a bird told her that evil things happened in the house and she should turn away, but she didn't. She looked through the house, but it was empty. There was one old lady in the room and she said the people who live in the house are cannibals and are going to eat her, but they would escape at night. The girl then saw the men drug a girl and chop her up, but they cut off her finger and it fell into the girls lap. The next day at the wedding the party asked the bride to share a story and she told of that night the girl was chopped up and eaten. She showed the party the finger and the girls bridegroom turned white and he was condemned and executed.

Reading Diary: Week 12: Through The Looking Glass

My Own Invention 
Alice wasn't sure if she was in a dream or not, then suddenly a red knight came galloping up to her. He told her that she was his prisoner. Then a white knight came up and said that he rescued her. The white and red knight fought very awkwardly until the red knight left. The white knight was dressed very peculiar. When Alice asked about all the additional things he wore he said it was something of his own invention. He invented things often, that didn't seem to work out very well. He was a very poor horse rider, but talked as if he was very good. Alice finally made it to the eighth square where she found a golden crown on her head.
Queen Alice 
Alice started talking to herself, as usual. Then the Red and White Queen appeared and started talking to Alice. More like harass her, because they didn't believe Alice was a queen. The said she were to have a dinner party that day. The queens tired themselves out and fell asleep on Alice's lap. Alice then went o invite guests to her dinner party. Alice was then at the dinner party and she had about 50 guests. The Red Queen, White Queen and Alice all sat at the head of the table. Alice was introduced to the food, so that she wasn't allowed to eat it.

Shaking and Waking 
The dinner party was getting a bit out of hand and people and things were shrinking. They were on the table and some even in their soup. Alice was fed up with ll the non-sense and pulled the table cloth off the table. She grabbed the queen and shook her until she turned into a kitten.

Reading Diary: Week 12: Through the Looking Glass

Looking Glass House 
Alice is sitting on the roof of the looking glass house when it suddenly melts and she fall inside. She looks to see if there is a fire and then sits by the chess set. The chess men and women can not see Alice or hear her. She helps the queen and king and it scares them a bit. She then finds a poem about a Jabberwocky and tries to understand it.
Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee 
Alice came across Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum and started having a conversation with them. They told her when you first greet someone to shake their hands and they both put out their hands. She didn't want to offend either one so she grabbed both hands and they all started dancing. Then they asked if she liked Poetry and started reading a poem.
The Walrus and The Carpenter
A walrus and a carpenter were walking along a beach and they asked a lot of little oysters to join them. After the long walk the walrus and carpenter ate all the oysters.
Tweede Dum and Tweedle Dee
They all went to go see the Red King sleeping. The twins said he was dreaming about Alice and she's not real. If she were to wake the Red King then she would vanish. She thought this was ridiculous. Then they saw an old/ new rattle in the woods. This made the twins freak out and they said they have to prepare for battle. They grabbed a bunch of materials from the woods and told alice to fasten the stuff to them like armor. Then right before the battle a large black crow came.
Humpty Dumpty 
Alice went up to humpty dumpty, but he was a little weird and didn't talk directly to her for a while. She asked him if he wanted to get off the wall, but he told her no he would never fall. He said if he did the king would and Alice interrupted him and said "send all the kinds horses and men?" He thought she had been spying because there was no other way for her to know that. They spent a while talking about their ages. Then Alice complimented him on his belt, but because he was an egg she could distinct waist from neck and embarrassed herself.

Reading Diary: Week 11: English Fairy Tales

Tom Tit Tot
A woman made 5 pies and asked her daughter to set them on the shelf so the crusts would soften, but the daughter ate all five pies instead. When the mother found out she sang about how she at all five pies in one day. The king was walking by and heard this women and asked what she was singing. The mother embarrassed said that she was singing about how her daughter made five skiens in one day. The king said he was going to marry her and give her everything she wants for 11 months and one month of the year she has to make five skiens a day. When the time came for her to make the skeins, a little black thing with a twirling tail told her that he would make them for her. All she had to do is guess his name correctly and she got 3 guesses a night for that whole month. Every night she guessed incorrect, but on her final guess she guess it correctly.
The Rose Tree
There once was a little boy and little girl who had a wicked step-mother. The step mother hated the little girl and killed her. She made stew with her organs and fed it to the father, the little boy refused to eat it. He went out and put the little girls body in a box and buried it under the rose bush. The rose bush bloomed a bird perched upon it and sang a song. Everyone in the town thought this was a beautiful song and gave the little bird any thing it asked for in exchange for it singing the song. It got a mile stone and went back to the house of the wicked step mother. The bird tricked her into coming outside and when she did, the bird dropped the stone on her and killed her.
The Old Woman and her Pig 
An old women bought a little piggy and on her way home the pig would jump over the stile. She started with asking the dog to bite the pig to so he would just over the stile and the dog refused, so it started a whole line of favors that needed to be done so the pig would jump over the stile and the old woman could go home that night. Finally they were able to get everything worked out and she made it home.

Binnorie 
There once was two sisters who were daughters of the king. Sir Prince William fell in love with the older sister, but then when he saw the younger sister fell in love with her and left the older one. The older sister was so upset she drowned the younger once and let her float down a stream. A miller found the sister, but she had drowned. A harper made a harp out of the woman's chest bone and hair and brought it to the castle to play. The harper left the harp in the hallway and it started singing on its own about how her sister killed her, then it broke and never sang again,
Mouse and Mouser 
The mouse was having a conversation with a cat who was spinning and they were just talking about their days. The cat then ate the mouse
Cap o'Rushes
The king who had three daughter sent one away because he thought she didn't love him because she said she loved him like meat loves salt. She then became the maid to another family and the masters son fell in love with her. He gave her a ring and she cooked with it and gave it to him so he found out who she was. They were married and the girl invited her father, even though she hadn't yet revealed herself to anyone. The the wedding meal was saltless meat and when the father ate it he realized how much she loved him.
The Story Of The Three Little Pigs 
There were three little pigs and the first pig built a house of straw. A big wolf came and blew it down and ate the pig. The second one made his go furze and the same thing happened. The third was very cleaver and made his of bring, and the wolf couldn't blow it down. The continuously tried to trick the pig but was defeated each time.
The Master and His Pupil 
There was a magical book that had everything about religion in it and it belonged to the master. One day when the master left the pupil tried to conjure up a spirit but couldn't. He saw the master left the book out and conjured a spirit and told him to water a flower. The demon didn't stop water the flower and almost drowned the boy but the master came home just in time..

Reading Diary: Week 11: Alice in Wonderland Continued

A Mad Tea Party 
Alice walked up to a table where the hatter and the march hare were sitting. She sat down with them and they went back and forth for a while, then the hatter asked a riddle, "Why is a raven like a writing-desk?" They often got off subject, bust Alice still wondered about this riddle. This riddle didn't have an answer and Alice was upset and told the hatter not to waste time on riddles with no answers. The Hatter then asked Alice what she knows about time, and told the story of how he became mad. Then the doormouse started telling a story about three girls who lived at the bottom of a well. Alice started asking a lot of questions. The dormouse didn't like all her interruptions and Alice didn't like that his story didn't make any sense. She realized that this tea party was too confusing and frustrating for her so she left.
The Queens Croquet- Ground
Alice walked up to the queens garden where she saw three gardeners painting roses. She walked up right as a procession was going on with all the soldiers and guests to play croquet, and of course the queen. When they queen saw Alice she asked who she was and who the gardens were. When they queen faint out the gardeners planted the wrong color rose bush she said "off with their heads," but alice hid them, so they lived. The queen invited Alice to play croquet. The balls were hedgehogs and the clubs were flamingoes. Alice found this game very difficult, also because there was no order and everyone was just fighting for a hedgehog ball. She would hear the queen shot "Off with their head," very often. Soon enough she saw the grin of the Cheshire Cat. Alice and the cat started talking, and the king came up and asked who Alice was talking to. The cat refused to kiss the kings and and so the queen sentenced him to be beheaded, but the cat was just a head. There was an argument about if you could behead something that doesn't have a body.
Who Stole the Tarts?
Alice was sitting in on a courtroom case against The Knave of Hearts, because he stole tarts from the queen. The first witness was the Mad Hatter. The courtroom was a mess and a lot of things that happened didn't make sense. The were reading off witnesses and then the white rabbit yelled out the name "Alice!"
Alice's Evidence 
Alice accidentally disrupted the jury when she was walking up to the stand, because she had been growing so much in size. When she was asked what she knew about the case she said "Nothing," because she honest knew nothing. There was an unsigned letter in the court that everyone thought was from the Knave. This letter had some verses in it that didn't make too much sense, so alice and the king went back and forth about if this was evidence or not. Alice then because very furious and because of her large size she started yelling at the queen saying she's nothing but a deck of cards. The cards then started flying all around her and she tried swatting them away. She then woke up in her sisters lap and told her about her curious dream.

Reading Diary: Week 11: Alice in Wonderland

Down the Rabbit Hole 
Alice was bored sitting with her sister when she suddenly saw a white rabbit in a coat looking at this watch. She thought this was strange so she followed the rabbit down a hole and fell. It seemed like she was falling forever. She finally hit the ground and she as in a room with many doors. There was a key on the table that only fir into one small door, that alice couldn't fit into. She went back to the table she found the key on and saw a bottle labeled "Drink Me," so she did just that. Alice shrank down to 10 inches tall, but then she realized she had forgotten the key.She then found a box with a piece of cake in it that said "eat me," so she did and she grew over 9 feet tall. She got the key, but there was no way for her to get back through the tiny door.
Advise From A Caterpillar 
Tiny alice climbed on top of a mushroom and saw that there was a caterpillar there, smoking hookah. He asked her who she was, but the question puzzled her. She told him that she has changed since she got up that morning and she id not sure who she is. He didn't understand her and she was angry and started to walk away, but he said he had something important to say. He told her that one side of the mushroom will make her grow and the other side will make her shrink, then he disappeared. She took pieces fro each side and ate the right side and she started to shrink rapidly. She quickly ate a bit of the right side and started to grow, but just her neck. Soon enough her neck was very very long and she couldn't see her shoulders. A pigeon started pecking at her face calling her a serpent, but she argued she wasn't one. Soon enough she started eating the left and right sides of the mushroom until she was normal size.

Pig and Pepper
Alice was standing outside a house when a fish-footman came up to the house and handed a large letter to a frog-footman. The letter was from the queen inviting the duchess to play crochet. Alice went up to the frog-footman asking how to get in and they went back and forth for a while before just walking in. When she walked in, it lead to kitchen where the duchess was in the middle holding a baby and the cook was making soup that had way too much pepper. The only ones not sneezing because of all the pepper in the air were the cook and the cheshire cat. The cook started throwing dishes at the duchess and the baby, but they pretended like nothing happened, even when they hit them. the duchess threw the baby to alice to nurse it and then got up to get ready to go to the queens. Alice then took the baby, but it appeared to be more like a pig. The baby turned fully into a pig and went into the woods. Then the Cheshire cat appeared and Alice asked him for directions. The cat pointed her towards the March hare, but also told her where the mad hatter lived. When she asked why he was mad he said :Were all mad here, even you."

Reading Diary: Week 10: American Indian Fairy Tales

Iagoo, The Storyteller
Imago was an old wise man, who was an amazing story teller. He knew why and how everything was the way it was. It was wintertime and that is the time for storytelling. All the children came to hear stories from Iagoo, but the North Wind was very strong and scared one of the little girls. Iagoo proceeded to tell a story about the North Wind.

Shin-Ge-Bis Fools The North Wind
The South Wind was one of the greatest times in the Indian summer. He made the trees grow and kept the land warm and kept the North Wind away, who had terrible anger and could freeze the land. When the South Wind Slept the North Wind would come in and ice the land and all the fishermen left except Shin-Ge-Bis, the diver. He could transform into a duck but was no match for the North Wind. Shin-Ge-Bis said that the North man was only a man like him, but he couldn't stand the heat. When the North Wind came near he invited him into his wigwam and made the fire big. The North Wind began to weaken and he had to leave. When he was outside he told Shin-Ge-Bis to go out into the snow to fight him. Shin-Ge-Bis knew he was weak from the heat and could make him weaker from his body heat. The fought all night and Shin-Ge-Bis won.
The Little Boy and The Girl In The Clouds
Iagoo told the story about the mountains. The story takes place in a valley of a little boy and girl. They had many animal friends and everyone got along peacefully. The little boy and girl fell asleep on a rock after a long day of swimming. While they were sleeping the rock began to rise and rose above the trees. The parents of the children couldn't find them and the animals all helped find them. None of the animals could reach them though, but a little worm said he could climb the mountain and help. they all scoffed at him, but he reached the top and guided the children down the mountain. They named the rock after that little worm.
The Child of The Evening Star
A hunter lived out in the woods and had 10 beautiful daughters. Suitors came by and married nine of the girls, but the youngest, Oweenee, who was the most beautiful was not married. She was hard to please. She was able to see the heart of men and not their faces, and she said that is what really mattered. She ended up marrying an ugly man who had a beautiful heart. This ugly man, Osseo, was actually very handsome, but cursed by the evening star. Osseo had the curse lifted, but it just transferred to his loved one. She turned old. She said as long as he still loves her she's happy. All of the sisters were envious of the new looking husband, and were happy their sister lost her beauty. Suddenly a voice of the Evening Star was singing to Osseo. All the sisters and their husbands turned into birds and Oweenee's beauty was restored. The King of the Evening Star was Osseous father and he told them that a magican on their land cursed Osseo and sent him to earth. Osseous and Oweenee decided to move to the Evening Star and while they were there they had a son. Their son always wondered what it would be like on Earth. He released birds hoping they would take him to earth,but they didn't so he shot one. When he did the bird turned into a woman and blood was shed on the Evening Star and it made them all decent to earth.

Reading Diary: Week 9 Continued

Lodge-Boy and Throw-Away
A pregnant women was killed by the red women and she threw one baby outside in the spring and the other behind the curtain. The father found one of the boys and raised him but the other was wild. They changed the wild boy into a human and then they went to go raise their mother from the grave. The father warned the boys about dangerous things around their tipi and the boys always went to these things and conquered them. At the end they had to kill a long otter and did.

The Son In Laws Test
Wemicus was the father of the of a daughter who had many husbands, who Wemicus killed off. He put the former husbands through many tricks that all ended in death, but the current husband was able to defeat wemicus in every scheme. The last scheme was to beat him in a sailing race, but Wemicus’ canoe tipped over and before he died he turned into a pike fish.


The Jealous Father
Aioswé had two wives and his son was intimate with the woman who wasn’t his mother. Aioswé was enraged and decided to abandon this boy on an island. This boy escaped by riding on a walrus back to the mainland. On the mainland he had to get past a few obstacles before getting home and he succeeded. When he arrived home his mother, but Aioswé was scared for his life. They burned the forest and boiled the water , but the son and mother turned into birds and escaped.

Dirty Boy
The chief of the tribe had two daughters and put on a contest to marry off his daughters. The brother and sister, Sun and Star, came down to earth and took shape of a dirty boy who can not walk and an old women. The dirty boy entered the contest and won. The chief put on a new contest and the dirty boy one that one too. His wives were coming to his house when one stopped at the ravens house and married him. The younger sister went to the house of the dirty boy and married him and took care of him everyday. He later showed his true identity and she was thrilled.

Reading Diary: Week 9: Native American Hero Tales

The Jealous Uncle
There was an "Unnatural Uncle" who always killed his nephews, it had happened twice before. When a third sone was born to his sister they tried to tell him that he was a girl so that he didn't kill him. It worked for a while but the uncle soon found out and planned to kill the boy. The uncle asked him to get wood with him and trapped him in wood so he would die, but the boy rubbed a sour cranberry on the wood and escaped. The next day the uncle asked the boy to help him gather ducks and eggs and tried to kill him again. The boy successfully escaped. After that the uncle asked him to get clams, and the boy got trapped inside a huge clam but then escaped. The uncle then made a man sized box and had the boy get inside. The uncle set the box off to sea and it later washed up on the land of eagles. The boy married the chiefs daughter and told the chief about his parents and uncle. The chief let him take the eagle skin and go to his homeland and retrieve his parents. The boy made his uncle pay for treating his parents poorly by dropping him into the sea and making him attempt to swim to shore. The boy got his parents and returned to the Eagle land
Bluejay and His Companions 
There was a group of five companions and they went seal hunting together and gave Grouse all the lean meat and no fat. Grouse then had a seal drag these five men far out to sea. When they men realized they started paddling back and got stuck and seaweed and one of them downed. They then got to a strange shore and a squirrel challenged the bluejay to a climbing match. The bluejay won. They were then called to more challenges that they cheated and won all of them. After the horrible journey the men learned to give the fattest best seal to grouse.
Dug-From-Ground
An old women and her granddaughter happened to find a baby that called the young women mother. This women didn't accept him as her son until he killed a white deer and gathered long acorns. The boy did so and the women finally called him son. After that he set out to go to a town and found out he was more than human. He played many games and won them all. 
Attack On The Giant Elk and The Great Eagle 
In the early days there were monstrous sized animals who would terrorize and kill human, like the elk and eagle. The sons of the Sun were sent out to kill these animals and stop them. Jonayaíyin set out to kill the elk and had help from animals friends.

Reading Diary: Week 7: Lang Continued

Schippeitero
A young man was on a journey and had to stay the night in a chapel for safety. At night cats gathered there and chanted "Don't tell Schippeitrto." He soon found out that a girl from a near by village was going to be sacrificed to The Mountain Spirit and the young boy asked who Schippeitero was. He was a dog who could kill The Mountain Spirit. He got the dog and went to the chapel and when the spirit was going to eat the girl he found the dog instead and the dog and the boy worked together and killed the spirit.
The Crab and The Monkey
The monkey made a deal with the crab to give hm rice and to give the crab a seed of fruit. The crab agreed and she planted the seed and soon had a beautiful tree with a lot of fruit. The monkey asked if he could have some fruit and the crab said yes if he throws down half the fruit to her, but instead he ate all the good fruit and threw down the rotten fruit to the crab. The crab knew the monkey would come back for more fruit so she made a plan with her friends. When the monkey came back he tried to steal an egg that exploded in his face and the he got stung by a wasp and then a mortar fell on his head and he died.
The Magic Kettle
An old man had a kettle that he started to heat up, but when he did the kettle turned into a tanuki. The man didn't want this creature in his house so he sold the kettle to Jimmu. Jimmu set up a booth and showed people the transformation and became very weather. He was an honest man so he filled the kettle with gold coins and brought it back to the old man.
How The Wicked Tanuki Was Punished
Because of hunters there were no animals in the forest except three: the tanuki, the fox, and their son. They were very hungry so the Tanuki transformed himself into a man and sold the fox (knowing she was alive and could escape back into the forest). But he told the seller she wasn't really dead so the tanuki could have more food for himself. The son wanted to avenge his mother so he told his father that he was very good at magic and could transform into anything, but his father said he would still be able to recognize him. So instead of transforming the son just hid and then the king came by and tanuki jumped on him thinking it was the son and the kings guards killed him. 
The Slaying of The Tanuki
The tanuki was very mean to the peasant so the peasant took him home and bound him up because he was planning on eating him. The peasants wife felt bad for the tanuki and untied him, but he killed her and made dinner from her flesh. He transformed into the wife and fed the peasant the meal. He told the peasant and ran away. The hare tried to get revenge by setting the wood that was bounded to the tanuki's back, but it didn't kill him. They had an idea to make two boats, one made of clay and one made of wood. The hare invited the tanuki to fish and he agreed and god into the bigger clay boat. When they were out on the water the hare struck the boat, breaking it and drowning the tanuki. 
Uraschimataro and The Turtle
A young fisherman of two loving parents went too far out to sea and he caught a baby turtle. This turtle begged for his life so the boy gave it to him and set him free. Later he was caught in huge waves and the turtle was bigger now and saved him. The turtle brought him to an underwater palace with a beautiful princess, the boy stayed there for a very long time and did not age. The boy soon longed for his parents and the princess told him he could go and gave him a small box. She said if he were to open the box he would never be allowed to return. the boy agreed and went to the land. Up there he rand to his parents house only to find they were dead. He opened the box and the young boy turned into an old man. He waited by the shore for the turtle, but he never came and the man died.

Reading Diary: Week 7: Japanese Fairy Tales - Lang

The Two Frogs 
There were two frogs, one from of Osaka and one from Kioto, and they both wanted to travel and explore their land. The Kioto frog wanted to travel to Osaka and the Osaka frog wanted to go to Kioto. They met at amounting in the middle of their two towns and looked at the towns they were traveling to see to find that they looked exactly like the town they came from.
The Stonecutter
There once was a poor stonecutter, who seemed content with his life until he visited a rich mans house. After that he said to himself that he wishes he was a rich man and the mountain spirit granted him this wish. The sun was still hot for him as a rich man so he wished to be a prince so someone would hold an umbrella over his head. He found the sun was mightier than man so he wished to be the sun, then he wished to be a cloud then to be a rock. As a rock, a stone cutter came and chipped off a piece of the former stonecutter. The rock wished to be a man again and then was content with what he had.
The Maiden With The Woden Helmet
There was a family who had lost all their riches so they had to teach their daughter tot work very hard. This girl was very beautiful, but her mother gave her a wooden helmet to wear and never take off. She started working for a rich family and soon became the sick mothers maiden. This sick women had a son who thought the helmet was strange but got a glimpse of the women beauty. He then had to marry her. During the wedding the helmet fell off and revieled her beauty.
The Envious Neighbor
There was an old couple with a very loyal dog. This dog dug up gold coins for the couple. The neighbor of this couples asked to borrow the dog for a night in hopes of him finding more gold, but the dog didn't , so the neighbor killed him. The dog visited the old man in a dream and told him to make a mortar to collect rice and the rice turned into gold. The neighbor borrowed the mortar and the rice turned into smelly berries so he smashed the mortar.
The Sparrow With The Slit Tongue
A very sweet old man was married to a greedy mean women. The man saw a sparrow in need and brought it into his home and kept it safe, but the women saw this bird and tried to kill it and plot its tongue. When the man found out he went out to look for it and found himself in a beautiful garden with a big house and maiden. This maiden was his spare friend and she fed him and had him pick between two chests. He picked the smaller one and it was gold coins. His wife called him foolish and went to go get the bigger chest. She did and when she opened it there were two snakes who bit and killed her. 
The Cat's Elopement 
There were two cats Gon and Koma and they fell madly in love and ran away together. They came face to face with a dog and Koma ran up a tree and Gon stayed strong like he would fight the dog. A man who worked for the princess came and saved Gon and took him to the palace. They were heart broken that they were separated. At the palace Gon saw two cats fighting and went outside to break it up to find the smaller cat was Koma.

Reading Diary: Congo continued

The Antelope and the Leopard 
The leopard bet he could hid from the antelope but he was easily found, then the antelope bet his life that he could hid from the leopard. The leopard looked and looked for him but only found a small dog who changed into a maiden. The leopard wanted to marry the maiden but she made the leopard declaw himself, chop off his ears and paw until he had killed himself. This maiden turned into the antelope and won the bet.
How The Spider Won and Lost Nzambi's Daughter 
Nzambi wanted to marry off her daughter and the spider said that he would marry her. The spider and other creatures went to the heavens to get fire from Nzambi Mpungu. When they returned the other creatures said they deserve marriage too because they helped.
The Turtle and The Man 
The man and turtle mad a large trap and then split it so they each had thier own trap. The turtle caught an antelope and an ox helped get it out and prepare it to eat, but when he asked for his share he didn't give it to him so the ox went to destroy his trap. He fell in and died. A leopard came to help to the turtle and when the turtle tried to trick him the leopard kill him and took all his meat.
The Gazelle and The Leopard 
The gazelle and leopard had a plantation together, but the leopard was the only one who put in work. The gazelle went to eat the crops with all his friends and the leopard was very angry when he found this out. The gazelle and his friends killed the leopard.
The Fetish Sunga 
Basa was a skilled fisherman, but he would lie to his family about how much fish he caught and he would smuggle it into his house. Sunga saw him do this and invited him to a feast. She took away his ability to lie.
The Rabbit and The Antelope 
The rabbit and antelope worked together, but the rabbit would leave the antelope to do all the work and eat their food. the antelope found out and told him he couldn't drink from his well anymore and the rabbit said okay. But the rabbit continued to drink from the well and the antelope set a trap and killed him.

The Fight Between The Two Fetishes
Lifuma went to the beach to gather shells and such to place around his sea-beach to show ownership. He tripped over an ant-hill and dropped his shells. He declared there should be no more ant-hills in his town.
The Fetish of Chilunga
There was a fetish who had the voice of a man and bird and was invisible. He would tie up the hands of the people who laughed at him or made him angry. One white man didn't believe in the spirit and was to keep watch of the presents and when he wasn't looking the invisible fetish took the presents and the white man believed.
The Leopard and The Crocodile 
A man cut up pine nut for a leopard and the leopard said that if he cut up pine nuts for only him the he would give him a lot of meat, but the man also made this deal with the crocodile. They both gave the man meat and then both requested to eating a dog, an animal they have never seen or eaten before, but the man didn't want to give up his dogs. He told them to meet in a certain location where he would leave the dog for them to eat but when they came it was just the croc and leopard who fought and killed each other thinking the other one was a dog.
Why The Crocodile Doesn't Eat The Hen
A crocodile wanted to eat a hen, but when he was about to eat it they hen would call him brother. The croc was upset by this and went out for expert advise. His friend said that the hen the turtle the duck and the crocodile all lay eggs so they are brothers in a way.
The Three Brothers
Three boys were abandoned by their mother when they were just babies. These brothers set out on their own and found food and became carpenters. They found their father and he went to tell the mother that he found her children. The boys found this women looking for them and they were about to kill her, but didn't when they found out she was their mother.

Week 6: Reading Diary: Congo

How The Wives Restored Their Husbands to Life 
A man Nenpetro had three wives who were always hungry so he went out to kill an ox. He killed one, but then was killed by another ox. One of the wived dreamt of her husband dead, the other guided them to the body and the other raised him from the dead. The man said the wife who raised him from the dead is the most prized.
How Gazelle Got Married
Nenpetro had two daughters, Lenga and Lunga. He said he would only marry them off to a man who could guess their names. An antelope came and couldn't, then a man with his dog came and couldn't do it. The dog stayed behind and learned the names of the daughters and got distracted an dead to go back to the palace many times to learn their names. He finally got back to his master and he married the princesses.
The Vanishing Wife
There was once two brothers and one lived a very lavish life style and the other was poor with no wife. He then had a dream about a woman who asked him to fish and cut the heads off the fish before returning. Then his dream came true and he went fishing everyday. He then tested to see if the woman really hated the heads and when she saw a head on the fish she vanished along with the house and servants.
Another Vanishing Wife 
once again there were two brother, but one was treated very well by his mother and the other was not so he ran away into the woods. He pulled leaves off a tree and they turned into a women who would be his wife and then she mad him attractive and gave him clothes and a house. He was told not to tell about the origins of his wife, but he did. And when he did, his wife, servants and house vanished.
The Jealous Wife
Two women had children and husbands and their husbands left to go trade. The elder wife wanted to kill the younger wife's child and waited until it was dark and killed hi,. When she woke up she realized she killed her own son instead and ran away with the body. When her husband found her made her ear casca tree and killed her.
Ngomba's Balloon 
There were 4 sisters who went out to go fishing, but one of the sisters had horrible sores all over her body. She was sent away from the other three and she started fishing on her own when a murderer came up and cured her of her sore. He then married her and brought her to his town. She made a balloon to escape back to her mothers town where he followed her. They out together a dinner and killed the murderer.
The Wicked Husband 
A woman asked her husband to get more palm nuts but he told her to go with her if she wanted more. He took her into the woods and cut off her arms and legs. The prince soon found out and took the body into town and smoked it with the husbands body burning in the fire.
How Kenga Lost Her Child
Two wives of the same husband had two farms. They agreed whatever was grown on their farms in theirs and not for the other. Kenga had a baby on Gunga's farm and Gunga wouldn't give it to Kenga stating that it was born on her land, therefore it is hers. The prince ruled that the child was Gunga's.
The Twin Brothers 
There were once twin brothers who were born fully grown and with powers. One set out to find his wife and did, then went to a town where no one returns. He was killed and his twin brother went out to find him and used his powers to bring him back to life. The once dead brother killed his twin and then went back to the town.

The Younger Brother Who Knew More Than The Elder
The younger brother went away to another town and made an agreement with the leader of the town he moved to. They made a trap and anything caught in it that was a male would be the younger brothers and anything female would be the town leader. Everything that fell into the trap was male until the younger brothers wife fell into the trap. The town leader claimed her as his because she is female.

Reading Diary: Georgian Continued

The Strong Man and The Dwarf 
There was a very strong giant in the kingdom who could over power everyone and a small dwarf challenged him to a fight. The dwarf tricked the giant into thinking he was strong and they became friends and didn't fight. The dwarf continued to trick the giant into thinking he was strong throughout their friendship.
The Grasshopper and the Ant
The grasshopper and ant were good friends and they tried to cross a river where the any was caught in the current and drowning. This sent the grasshopper on the wild goose chase to get bristles to save the ant. By the time he was able to get all the things his friend was dead. This teaches the lesson help is only good in if it is done in time.
The King and the Sage
A beloved king asked his people to propose him with a question that would only be answered by "That is impossible." On the first two days nobody could stump the king but on the 3rd day a man proposed many questions. These questions all answered by, "That is possible," lead up to a final question that stated the kings father owed the man's father money. The king had to answer the question "That is impossible," and he laughed and gave the man many gold coins.
Teeth and No Teeth 
The Shah offered a splendid meal to the hungriest people in his village. Two men, an old man and a young man, came up and both said they have not eaten in three days. While they were eating both of them started weeping. When the king asked why the old man replied that he had no teeth and was sad watching the young man eat up all the food because he can chew. The young man replied that he was sad watching the old man eat all the food because he can swallow it whole.
The Fool's Good Fortune
There were three brothers and one of them was a fool and never knew what to say. He was beaten for saying the wrong things in bad situations. He then was in a tree with a bell where robbers were meeting. He knew he had to outsmart the robbers to take their money. He did and he built three palaces.
Two Losses
During a great storm a skipper was giving orders but a learned man could not understand him. The scholar said the skipper should have spent more time learning to speak correctly. The boat sprung a leak, so the skipper asked the scholar if he could swim and he replied no. The skipper told him he should've spent more time learning to swim.
The Story of The Dervish 
A man was told to go talk to the Dervish to hear some crazy stories. The dervish was sitting with an ass and a she-ass and started telling his story. He caught his wife cheating with their neighbor, but his wife turned him into a dog, and somehow he became the protector of the princess. Swans would attack her and the dog killed ten out of eleven swans and the eleventh said that she would help with his situation with his wife. The swan turned him back into a man and said he could whip his wife and turn her and his neighbor into any beast. He turned them into an ass and a she-ass.
The Fathers Prophecy 
A father told his son that he would never become a good man. The son grew up to be a pasha and ordered to see his father, who was a sick old man. The pashas men dragged his father to him where he confronted him and said that he is now a good man because he is a pasha. The father replied that he not a good man because of the way he retrieved him.
The Kings Counsellor
The king's counsellor wanted to test the love and loyalty of the king and his wife. The counsellor stole a royal goat and cooked it for his wife. The king said he would marry any women who found the thief of the goat and the counsellors wife turned him in and the counsellor was supposed to be executed, but he ran away. The king started to miss the hard work of the counsellor and the friend told him and he came back.
The Hermit Philosopher 
There was a philosopher who spent most of his time outside and he wondered about natures symmetry. He asked why walnuts grow on bug trees and pumpkins and melons grow just on vines in the ground then he fell asleep under the walnut tree. A small nut fell on his nose and he understood nature, because if it was a pumpkin it would've crushed his head.

Reading Diary: Week 5: Georgia

Master and Pupil 
A father and son play tricks on people by the son turning into talented animals. Then the father would sell the animal retrieve the money and start walking away, but when the son got a chance he would break away from the people who just bought him tun back into a boy and catch up with his father. When someone bought him as a horse, they shut him in so he couldn't escape. He then turned into a mouse and escaped but his new owner turned into a cat and chased him, this went on and on until he became a needle and the man chasing him was a thread and then he rolled into a fire killing the thread and the boy returned home to his father.
Fate
A young handsome prince went out to find out his fate. When he did it said that he was going to marry a weavers daughter who had been sick for 9 years and the prince did not like that very much and decided to change his fate. He found the weavers daughter and stabbed her in the heart and left money and fled the house of the weaver. One day when he was out hunting he saw a beautiful women and married her. After they were wed he put his hand on her heart feeling a scar where she explains that she was stabbed by a young man who visited their family and they bought a mansion with the money he left.
The Serpent and The Peasant 
A very nice king saw a vision of a fox hanging from the ceiling and asked all the people in the land to come help interpret it. A peasant coming from far away passed a serpent that told him that the vision meant the land was full of deceivers and asked him to bring back half the reward. The king had two more visions that the peasant and serpent helped with and only the final time the peasant shared his rewards.
The Two Brothers 
Two brothers were going on a journey and had 10 loaves of bread each and one of the brothers told his brother to share his half now and they will eat the rest later, but he left and then made them go separate ways. The brother with no bread went to hide in a hopper where he heard stories where he could get great wealth from a bear, wolf and a jackal. He went and became wealthy and when his brother heard of this he went to that same hopper where the bear, wolf and a jackal killed the brother.
The King and The Apple
A dying king gave his son a coffer and told him to only use it when he was in danger while hunting in the east. When the boy was hunting in the east he went into a tower where twelve men with drawn swords who said they were going to cut off his head. He opened the coffer and an apple rolled out and told him three riddles that the boy got correct.

The Three Precepts 
A young man was a slave to a clever man for three years and learned three lessons: 1.) Throw everything you find into the yard, 2) Never lend anything to anyone, and 3) Don't tell secrets to a woman. When he was released from his three years he found a snake and there it into his yard and this snake laid precious stones and made the man wealthy. The women forced the man to tell her his secret and he did and then another man asked to borrow a knife. With this knife he killed and robbed someone and the young boy was to blame because it was his knife.
The Cunning Old Man and The Demi 
There was a lazy old man who was kicked out of his home for not helping with the work. He reached a river where there was a demi and the old man tricked him into thinking he was more than just a regular man and was able to get the demi to carry him across the river and feed him. The man once again tricked him into thinking he could eat a lot so the demi told his jackal and wolf friends about the old man and when they arrived to the old man he tricked the demi again and the demi was turned into dust.
The Sheperd Judge 
There was a sheperd that spoke very well and the king told him that he should be a judge and he was if they took his eyes then he would be a judge so they took his eyes. A man and a women came to him as a judge and told him about how the man stole a calf from the woman. The judge ruled that the calf was the woman's and then he got his eyesight back.
The Priest's Youngest Son 
Once there was a dying priest with three sons, and asked then to read the psalter when he was gone. The oldest two didn't, but the youngest son did and received three horses from this. With one of the horses he was able to retrieve the princess and he married her. He also retrieved milk for his mother in law and healed her illness.

Week 4: Reading Diary: Khasi

The Tiger and the Monkeys 
The tiger was the ruler of the jungle, but was very ignorant which lead him into being tricked. The monkeys made the tiger believe that a beautiful singing voice coming from the trees was their little sister. After hearing the sweet singing the tiger decided he wanted to marry the young monkey girl and was returning in a week to claim his bride. The monkeys mad a clay monkey but didn't connect the head to the body and tricked the tiger that he decapitated their sister.

The Legend of the Iei Tree 
The Iei Tree sat on a hilltop and casted a shadow so large that it made living conditions unbearable. Some believed the tree was apart of an unknown god, but there were still men who would try and cut it down to save mankind. Overtime they did the tree would heal itself over night, until a little birds, Ka Phriet, told them that the big tiger licked the tree every night to heal it up. finally the men were able to scare the tiger away and finish the task at hand.
 Hunting the Stag Lapland
The Stag Lapland was a noble young animal who was loved by his mother very much. He wanted to go up the hill of Khasi, and even though his mother warned him he still went. When the people in the town saw him they hunted and killed him. When his mother found this out she cried and mourned so loud that the whole town heard. This love and affection is how the Khasi people now base their mourning off of.
The Goddesses Ka Ngot and Ka Iam
Ka Ngot and Ka Iam are twin sisters and Ka Iam is out going and boastful where as her sister is shy and timid. They decided to race to the land of Sylhet, but before the race Ka Iam confidently bragged about winning. They both morphed into rivers and Ka Ngot went slowly and tactfully, and Ka Iam tried to go very quickly and got stuck. They soon found each other and became many rivers, but Ka Ngot is still worshiped to this day because she had won the race.
U Biskurom
The man U Biskurom was sent down by the great God to help mankind with labour and making tools. When mankind saw how talented and sweet he was they took advantage of him and tried to make him do unreasonable things and when he couldn't, they abused him.  He said he had to ascend  to heaven to learn how to do those things and then he would return. When he got to heaven God told him he wasn't going to go back down because of how man kind treated him.
How the Dog Came to Live with Man
The dog belong to the kingdom with all the animals where humans were the eneThemy. The animals were having a fair where everyone brought something they worked for to sell. The dog came across a human family who fed him and gave him the string smelling food to bring to the fair. When the dog opened the container the stench was so strong they humiliated the dog and he went back to the humans to live with.

The Stag and the Snail 
The snail was disgusted by the way the stag was bragging about his swiftness that she challenged him to a race. She was able to keep up with him even though he was sprinting. The snail won the race and the stag, due to sickness, spit up his gull-bladder, which is why no stags have gull bladders. 

PART B 
The Leap of Ka Likai 
Ka Likai is the name of a peaceful waterfall that is completely silent except for a faint sound that sounds like a moan. The story says that there was a young married woman named Ka Likai and she had a daughter she adored. When her husband died she had to get remarried to support her child. When her new husband found this out he grew to ate the child and eventually killed her. He cooked the child into supper for his wife and had her eat it without her knowing. When he told her what he had done she ran to the waterfall and jumped off.
What Caused The Shadow On The Moon
There once lived a mother with 4 children; 3 girls and one boy. The youngest two Ka Sngi (girl), which means the sun, and U Bnai (boy), which means the moon, were the most beautiful. U Bnai was a very rebellious child and left home to live with goblins and vice. When he returned home he saw his sisters beauty and told her that he was to marry her. She was so upset that she threw hot ashes on his face, which left terrible scars that made him only come out at night.

Week 3: Reading Diary continued: Homers Odyssey

Reading B 

Ghost of Erebus 
Odysseus made the sacrifices upon arrival at the House of Hades and prayed to the god. Around the ship were the ghosts of all the dead and it started to scare Odysseus and his men so they made another sacrifice.
The Ghost of Elpenor and Teiresias
They soon saw Elpenor, who asked them to go back to the house of Circe and burry his body out of respect. Odysseus also saw his mothers ghost who was alive at the time he left his home. Teiresias gave them instruction on what to do on their journey home and Odysseus agreed to doing it, and then asked about how he can talk to his mother.
The Spirit of Anticleia
Odysseus speaks to his mother and asks her about everyone back home. She says they are okay, but heart broken without Odysseus. He asked his mother how she died and she told him that she simply died because she couldn't take the pain of him being gone any longer.
The Ghost of Famous Women 
Odysseus talked to many women who had children with god like Poseidon and Zues or daughter of such gods.
The Ghost of Agamemnon
Agamemnon told the men the story of how he died. He was brutally murdered by his wife and he asked Odysseus if he could tell him if his son is still alive. Odysseus said that there is no way for him to know if he is alive or dead.
The Spirit of Achilles 
Odysseus told Achilles of all the great things his son did for them in battle. All the men he killed and the victories he helped them win.
The Ghost of Ajax
Ajax did not talk to Odysseus because of a battle they had where Odysseus won all of Achilles armor. In the house of Hades Odysseus and his men saw all these other men being tortured for all thier wrong doings while they were alive. The men got scared and got on the boat and started to head home.
The Sirens, Scylla and Charybdis 
Odysseus a tied himself to the ship while his men filled their ears with wax as they sailed by the Sirens and their sweet song. The trip through Scylla and Charybdis was not as smooth. They threw them into the ocean from their boats.
